( Clin Ops ) refer to the activities that support the clinical trial process from start-up to close out. Clinical operation roles include Clinical Operations Directors, Project Managers, Clinical Trial Managers, Clinical Research Associates/ Trial Monitors, and Clinical Trial Assistants.
Clinical operations teams are responsible for designing, planning and physically running Phase I – IV clinical trials within the drug discovery industry. Without this team, clinical research activity could not be delivered.
Clin Ops is key to the smooth running of a clinical trial and therefore a role within this area of the drug development process will no doubt lead to further opportunities. Being positioned centrally with the process of a trial puts most people in front of a number of key leaders and major stakeholders, which consequently builds an individual’s network of contacts. This will help you showcase your talent and seize new opportunities.
Upward and sideways moves are prevalent within the clinical operations sector and these moves can happen relatively quickly. The natural progression within clinical operations is to move up to Clinical Manager/ Senior Manager/ Director or Clinical Operations Lead, where the overall operational running of a trial is your responsibility.
